John has coached his daughter’s soccer and basketball teams. He leads a weekly bible study at First Baptist Church of Huntingdon where he and his family are members.
He is a cum laude graduate of the University of Tennessee at Martin. John earned his law degree from the Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law at the University of Memphis.
Governor Bill Haslam appointed John to the Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy. This organization fosters leadership in the rural communities of states bordering the Mississippi River. It is a part of the Delta Regional Authority which includes all of the counties in Senate District 24: Benton, Carroll, Gibson, Henry, Obion, and Weakley counties.
Lieutenant Governor Ron Ramsey appointed John to serve as a member of the Post-Conviction Defender Oversight Commission.
